I wrote this around 1965 while I was a member of the Plague Ltd/Heard. We recorded this song as a demo tape. The original arrangement had a classical feel to it, with lots of guitar counterpoint rifts (click here to listen to the original recording by The Plague Ltd). The version recorded here has more of a folk-rock feel with a 12 string electric guitar, heavy bass and drums.
Drops of sorrow fall from my eyes, from my eyes
Drowning the fires of love inside, deep inside
She has changed God how it hurts, how it hurts
Now she won’t let me get to her, get to her
I can see the glow in her eyes, turn to ice
I can feel the warmth of her sighs, crystallize
She has changed God how it hurts, how it hurts
Now she won’t let me get to her, get to her
We worked so hard building a memory
Then came the sound of a shattered dream
She turned so cold, oh so cold
Now I see the shadows in my mind, in my mind
Reflecting dreams that have died, they have died
She has changed God how it hurts, how it hurts
Now she won’t let me get to her, get to her
